Root Canal (Part 2)

Today we completed your endodontic therapy. We sealed the root canal(s) of your tooth. A temporary filling material has been placed in the center opening. The next step of your treatment is to restore the full integrity of your tooth with a build up (to replace the temporary filling material placed in the center of your tooth) and crown if prescribed. You will need to make a reservation for those services before you leave today.

You received local anesthetic today, please be careful until the numbness wears off and you have full feeling back in your mouth before chewing or drinking anything hot. You may have some discomfort at the injection site or in the muscle. For the next few days an over the counter pain reliever of your choice can be taken to help with the discomfort. The discomfort is usually temporary and can last for 3-7 days. If you experience prolonged numbness or discomfort, please call our office. If Dr. prescribed pain medication take it as directed, you may discontinue it when the discomfort is tolerable. If Dr. prescribed an antibiotic for infection do not stop taking it until it is gone, even if you feel better and if all the symptoms go away.

Once the anesthetic wears off, please make sure your bite feels even. If the temporary filling appears to hit first, we will need you to call us right away, we will need to adjust the bite.

If you have any questions or need further instructions please call our office. 630-653-5152

Thank you.
